Coaching Youth Players
COACHING THE
DEVELOPING PLAYER.
The coach-side track for everything that isn't school-team basketball. Youth, middle school, and AAU at every age — for the parent volunteer, the club coach, and anyone running an AAU program. Where the Coach's Library is HS and college, this is the development bucket.

What's In Wave 1
SIX COURSES.
ONE TRACK.
Each course is organized by context — youth, club, and the 17U exposure run. Pick the slice that matches the kid in front of you.
Why You Coach Young Players
Before you teach a kid anything, get straight with yourself about why you're on the floor. Includes a module for the parent coach who never played and ended up running the team anyway.
Teaching the Game
How to actually teach basketball — not run drills you saw on a YouTube clip. What to say, what to show, when to stop and fix it, when to let them play through it.
Reading Young Players
Reading a kid who's still a moving target. What's a habit, what's a phase, what's a real signal. Different reads for the 9-year-old, the middle-schooler, and the 17U kid trying to get seen.
Building an Offense at the Developmental Level
Spacing and decisions you can actually teach to a 12-year-old. Includes a middle-school module: how to put in something that works on Tuesday night without selling them a bill of goods for high school.
Practice Design for Young Players
What an hour with 12 kids and one rim should look like. How to keep them moving without running them into the ground. The practices that build the player you'll meet in three years.
Game Management at the Developmental Level
What to do on the bench when the game has already started teaching them more than you can. Timeouts, substitutions, what the kid hears when you yell, what they hear when you don't.
Who It's For
YOU, IF YOU COACH
THE KID NOT THE TEAM.
For the parent volunteer who got handed a clipboard. For the club coach trying to do right by 11 kids who all want different things. For the AAU coach who knows the difference between coaching basketball and running tournaments — and wants to stay on the coaching side.
“Youth” in the title is shorthand. The track covers ages roughly 5 through 17U — club and AAU at every age, not just little kids. If the player in front of you is still becoming who they'll be, this is the room.
If you coach a high-school or college team, the Coach's Library is the other door — same voice, different bucket.
